This week many of our UK students graduated! To celebrate them we interviewed one of our recent grads to look back on his time at university in the U.K.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and what you're studying?
My name is James Brickord and I just graduated (yesterday actually) from my Bachelors in International Development at the University of East London. Why did I choose my course? Well I always good at geography at school and like learning about human perspectives of the world!
Well I loved the connectedness. Everything is accessible and especially coming from a super rural city London is massive.
What made you decide to go to university?
Well I felt like this was the next step to carry on education and life I guess. I wanted independence, new experiences and new things. I’m not going to lie, adjusting to uni life was difficult. In general, it was hard to be away from home but I really grew to like my course, people were super friendly and I made a lot of friends. It also really helped having family support. I mean they were buzzing, especially since they couldn’t afford to go to university themselves.
Advice for new university students?
I would say don’t worry about the complexities of uni and just try your best. If you just go for it everything will be fine :)
Congratulations again to James and all other students who were able to celebrate their achievements this week!
